Chococonut Energy Balls

Do you have a sweet tooth?  We do and if you are anything like us at Macclesfield Performance, you are always on the look out for healthy alternatives that include natural ingredients that can be enjoyed instead of shop bought, artificially pumped cakes and sweet type products.

We’ve found a great alternative for you to try.  Not only are these 100% natural, there is no cooking involved AND they taste great!

Healthy Treats Coconut & Chocolate

We found this recipe at “Collective-Evolution” and adapted the original recepie from bars to balls as we found them to be perfect on a smaller scale. These bite sized balls are packed full of energy from natural sources – making them the perfect pre-workout snack.  They also have all the added benefits from the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants from the dates, coconut and cocoa.

 INGREDIENTS

300g soft pitted dates

80g natural dried coconut  (save a bit to one side for rolling)

1 heaped tbs unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tbs natural honey (as required)

STEP ONE

Pop all ingredient in to blender and blitz, mixture will be rough and sticky.  Add honey to mixture if it appears dry, but don’t allow it to go runny.

STEP TWO

Separate mixture into roughly 20-25 small blobs and roll each into balls between the palms of your hands the roll the balls in the remaining coconut to cover.

STEP THREE

Pop balls on baking paper in a sealed plastic container and keep chilled in the fridge.
Will keep for up to two weeks.
